Summer Gel Printing Class - July 19, 2023

Hello everyone,

Hope you are staying cool and hydrated!

Below is a recap of the cards we made in our previous class and a picture of the cards we will be making at our next and final class for the Summer Session.

Take care,

Connie

Birthday Crane: Background print was done using an embossed Bamboo card panel with green and gold metallic paint. Assemble card as shown with gold die cut crane and sentiment.

Butterfly Outline: Lay a die cut butterfly over a thin layer of black acrylic paint on gel plate. Place scratch paper on top to pull off the excess black paint. Lift up butterfly die cut to leave outline image on gel plate. Brayer a thin layer of rose and purple metallic paints over image. Place a white paper or card stock on top, rub and pull print. Die cut with stitch frame and assemble card as shown.

Thank U Leaves: Brayer yellow, green and gold paint onto gel plate, place leaves on top, place paper over and rub the entire surface. Lift up slightly and remove one leaf at a time and put the paper back down until all the leaves are removed.  Rub the entire gel plate to pick up the vein prints left from the leaves. Assemble card with sentiment, vellum circle and gold thread as shown.

Scenic Painting: Place a photo of your choice under gel plate and tape the card panel on one side of the gel plate to act as a hinge. Brush on acrylic paints following the colors from the photo until all the colors are added. Use acrylic paint medium to delay the paint drying time. Place card panel over painted gel plate to pick up the colors and repeat as needed.

Here is a preview of the cards for August 2, 2023.
