October 17, 2011 Card Making Class

Hello ladies,

Hope you had a nicer couple of weeks than I did!  ;o)  Late again as usual!  Here are the cards we made almost 2 weeks ago.
This first card is made by punching out 8 flowers, sponged edges with pink ink.  Cut or tear pink pattern paper with a slope down as shown, tie a sheer ribbon around top and glue down to card base.  Adhere flowers along the curve by adding glue to flower centers.  Add the pink gems in the center of each flower, stamp sentiment on the bottom of card and sponge card edges.
The cream rose on this card was made by using a die cut felt scallop circle, cutting spiral from out edge to the center and rolling from the center of the spiral outward.  The leaves were made by cutting freehand out of green felts.  Using a hand punch to punch out the large flower from the top right corner of the olive green scallop card, add foam tape and green sheer ribbon around the bottom and adhere the green scallop card to a pale yellow card base.  Glue the felt rose and leave through the top opening.  Using the same flower punch to punch out a beige flower for the silver sticker sentiment and foam tape onto the ribbon knot.
This cute teddy bear Halloween card was made by cutting out some cute Halloween animals fabric I had when I used to collect fabrics.  Double sided tape was taped on the back of the fabric image and cut out.  The front of the card was made by gluing all the layers of pattern paper and black and white card stock as shown.  The cut out fabric image was tape on top of the white card stock and finished off with the stamped sentiment.
I actually saw a similar pumpkin pie card from a magazine and decided to create my own version with a fancier plate made using a Spellbinder beaded oval die on white card stock.  The pie crust was made with a large scallop circle punch on tan card stock and sponge edges with brown ink.  The pumpkin center was made using a gold circle die cuts that bought, sponging the edges with orange ink.  Glue together before cutting the slice.  Glue pie on top of plate with foam tape.  Glue Thanksgiving paper onto brown card stock.  Wrap ribbon around and tie knot.  Stamp sentiment on tan card stock and punch out with a small scallop circle punch.  Add foam tape in back and adhere on top of the ribbon knot as shown.
Well, that's it for this session!  I need to start preparing for the next class.  Email me if you have any questions or comments.  Thanks for stopping by!  See you all in class Monday.  Have a great weekend!

October 3, 2011 Card Making Class

Hello again,

Since I was late last time, I thought I would get this posted at the first chance I get.  Well, I started early, but didn't quite finished it for posting.  So here it is finally!  I think I might have pushed the envelope a bit trying to fit 5 projects in our 2-hour class.  Poor Ellen was such a good sport trying to keep up with one hand in a cast.  Tennis can be a rough sport sometimes!  I'll be there 15-20 minutes early at the next class if you would like to finish up your cards.

This Halloween card was made by applying a multicolor ink with a brayer applicator on the back of a piece of vellum.  Apply the gold stickers in the front and color the image with LumiArt H2O watercolor paints.  Add trim on top and bottom to finish.
This sympathy card was made by sponging the 2 strips of pattern papers with distress green ink.  The tree image was stamped with black ink and stamped again without re-inking to give the shadow look.  Add ribbon at the seam between the 2 pattern papers.  Stamp sentiment on white card stock, punch out using oval punch, sponge edge with green ink.  Glue the white oval on top of large green oval.  Adhere with foam tape on top left of card.
This last minute request is an Anniversary card made by stamping the champagne glasses image with black Staz-on ink on white card stock.  Color the inside with metallic ink Gel pen.  Punch out corners, glue on top of black card stock and adhere onto silver card base with foam tape.  Adhere silver sticker sentiment onto punched out black card stock and mount it with foam tape at the bottom of card base.
This Thank You card was made by embossing glossy white card stock using Cuttlebug embossing folder and adhere to card base.  Add silk flower brads and gold flower stickers as shown.  Fold ribbon into a bow as shown an secure with brad in the center.  Wrap ribbon around card and adhere together with foam tape for a belly band to slip in/out of the card.
This purse card was made by punching out a pre-made perforated purse pattern card stock kit.  The kit comes with circles, ovals and long strips of matching patterns.  These shapes were used to decorate the purse as shown below.  A 2" x 11" black card stock was folded in half and in half again to form a "W" shape.  Each outer edges was folded back 1/3 and taped down to the inside of the purse as shown in the 2nd image.  Cupcakes and sentiments were stamped and colored on white card stock, punch out with circle punch and attached the pattern circles.  Punch out flower shapes from the left over pattern card stock and add to the inside of purse as shown.  Velcro tape was added to the flap for closure.

Email me if you have any questions.  That's it for this week.  Enjoy!
