October 15, 2012 Card Making Class

Hello ladies,

Hope your week is going well so far!  Mine has been busy as usual. Below are the cards from last Monday's class.

This first card used a technique called paper piecing.  The cake was stamped on the white card panel with black ink and then again on a pink and lavender card stock.  Cut out the poka dots portion of the cake from the pink card stock and the stripe portion from the lavender card stock.  Adhere the cut outs onto the stamped cake of the white panel.  Mat it on a pink panel and set aside.  Wrap the pink poka dots ribbon around the black poka dots panel and adhere to the white card base.  Adhere the previously assembled cake panel onto the black poka dots panel as shown with foam tape.  Color the candles with pink and lavender markers and the flame with gold gel pen.  Stamp sentiment on white card stock and punch out shape using the Stampin' Up designer label punch.  Punch another one out of pink card stock, cut in half length wise and glue behind the white sentiment.  Adhere to card with foam tape.  Add the pink gems as shown.
This Santa Owl card was inspired by Darlene using the Stampin' Up Owl punch that I borrowed from my friend Ana.  Finally made a card with it Ana! ;o)
Start the card by gluing the snowflake pattern paper onto the card base for background.  Draw the snow bank, cover edge with glue and add glitter on the glue edge.  Punch out the owl body with brown card stock, the belly with red card stock and again with back card stock.  Trim the black punched shape to make the belt and draw the belt buckle with white gel pen.  Punch the eyes out of beige, white and black card stocks as shown.  The Santa hat was cut free hand and the white areas was added using white liquid applique.  I used white embossing powder in the sample because I left my white liquid applique in the classroom closet.  Stamp sentiment on white card stock and punch shape with designer label punch.  Add clear blings (or diamonds as some of the ladies in class called them) and adhere with foam tape.
This dragonfly card was made by punching out 3 dragonflies using Fiskars punch and lavender card stock.  Adhere the dragonfly washi paper onto gold panel.  Wrap gold ribbon around and tie a simple knot.  Adhere the panel onto ivory card base as shown and adhere the dragonflies with glue dots as shown.  Add gold sticker sentiment to finish the card.
This hot air balloon card was made by stamping the balloon on pattern paper.  I know... it's so light; you can barely see the patterns, but it's there.  Cut out the shape and adhere to the cloud background paper.  Pop up the center balloon with foam tape.  Round the corners of the cloud background paper before adhering to the white card base.  Add silver sticker sentiment to the light green banner strip and pop up the center with foam tape and glue down the 2 ends to give some dimensions.
That's it for now.  Have a good week and see you next Monday October 29, 2012.  Is everyone ready for Halloween?
