Fall 2024 - Handmade Greeting Card Workshop, December 11, 2024

 Hello everyone,

Below is a recap of the cards we made in our last class.

Sun Rays Birthday: Add red and yellow alcohol inks onto felt applicator and apply onto the back of photo paper. Die cut round rectangle background and emboss sun rays with 3D embossing folder. Sand lightly with emery board over the card panel to bring out the dot patterns. Add die cut birthday sentiment, balloons and party hat on top and adhere to yellow card base as shown.

Shellebration: Stamp and heat emboss sea shells with white embossing powder on watercolor paper. Apply blue and purple distress mica stain spray with water all over watercolor panel. Adhere to black mat paper and white card base. Add gems to finish card as shown.

Sailboat Shaker Birthday: Wrap 3 sides of square panel with acetate and add iridescent flakes before sealing shaker pouch. Tape shaker pouch in the back of navy card panel. Adhere die cut sailboat to the front opening of navy card panel. Wrap blue twine and adhere stamp sentiment on top before adhering to white card base.

Heartfelt Sympathy: Stamp bird and sentiment with black Stazon ink on white panel. Sponge Rose Bud Memento ink on the image. Apply clear Wink of Stella on bird and leaves to add some shine and shimmer. Add ribbon and adhere panel onto red card base to finish.

Fall 2024 - Gel Printing Workshop - December 4, 2024

Below is a recap of the cards we made in class.

Best Wish Fan: Brayer a thin layer of gold acrylic paint onto gel plate. Place embossed fan pattern card board on top and rub lightly to transfer pattern onto gel plate. Remove card board and let gold paint dry completely. Brayer a thin layer of purple metallic acrylic paint on top, place white paper and rub well to lift print. Die cut background shape, wrap twine, adhere onto white card base. Add flowers, gems and sentiment to finish card as shown.

Birthday Flower Bouquet: Brayer a thin layer of iridescent white acrylic paint onto gel plate. Add drops of red, pink and purple alcohol inks on top and use blower to spread inks around. Place flower stencil on top, place white paper over and rub to pick up the 1st print. Remove flower stencil and place the 1st print back on top to lift up the 2nd print. Cut down to smaller size to fit behind the die cut flower bouquet before mounting onto pink card base. Somehow the card base in my picture became lavender. Must be the amateur photographer! LOL

Snowflake Polar Bear: Brayer Tumbled Glass Distress ink onto gel plate and pick up 1st print. Brayer Peacock Feathers, Broken China & Faded Jeans Distress inks onto gel plate and plate die cut snowflakes on to gel plate. Place the 1st print on top and rub all over to transfer pattern for the 2nd print. Die background frame and adhere onto white card base. Lightly sponge salty ocean Distress Oxide ink on snow mound die cuts.  Add snow mounds, bear, snowflake, gems and sentiment to finish card as shown.

Birthday Butterfly: Brayer Tangelo, Rose Bud & Lilac Posie Memento inks onto gel plate and stamp with rose stamp on to gel plate. Place paper over gel plate to lift the print. With the ink remaining on the rose stamp, stamp the image onto the recently lifted print to add the rose image onto print. Die cut background frame, weave in gold ribbon. add butterfly and sentiment before adhering to ivory card base.

Fall 2024 - Handmade Greeting Card Workshop, November 20, 2024

Hello ladies,

Here is a quick recap of the cards we made last time. Our last class meeting for the Fall Session will be December 11, 2024.

Watercolor Lighthouse: Apply Scattered Straw, Mermaid Lagoon, Rustic Wilderness Distress Inks onto a piece acetate and spritz some water lightly on top. Spritz some water onto watercolor card stock. Lift colored acetate and place over watercolor card stock to apply ink background colors onto card stock. Heat to dry panel before stamping lighthouse and sentiment on top. Adhere panel to black mat, add black & white washi paper onto blue card base before adhering the stamped card panel on top.

Snowy Trees: Stamp trees with VersaMark ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder. Brush Bahama Blue Memento ink over trees and outward. Use paper towel to wipe off ink on top of embossed trees. Adhere panel on top of blue mat. Adhere snowflake pattern paper onto blue card base. Assemble card by adding stamped sentiment with scallop blue mat as shown.

3D Poinsettia: Spray Lemon Zest Dylusions ink spray onto watercolor paper. Spray Holly Branch & Peppermint Stick Distress Mica Stain on top. Let dry and place panel into 3D Embossing Floder to emboss poinsettia images. Using sponge dauber to apply some gold ink onto the center of poinsettias. Adhere panel to gold mat. Add ribbon, gems and sentiment sticker before adhering to red card base.

Aurora Borealis Bear: Cover aqua card panel with mask and brush on Distress Oxide inks (Faded Jeans, Cracked Pistachio & Dusty Concord) one section at a time to create background. Stamp scripts on top using Moonlight White Brilliance ink. Adhere die cut snowbank & bear before adhering onto black mat and white card base. Add stamped sentiment to finish as shown.

Fall 2024 - Gel Printing Workshop - November 13, 2024

Hello everyone,

Below is a quick recap of the cards we made in class. Our last class for the Fall Session will be on Wednesday December 4th.

3D Emboss Roses: Brayer Garnet acrylic paint onto gel plate and place the 3D embossed rose cardboard panel on top of gel plate. Lightly rub to transfer the pattern onto gel plate. Remove cardboard panel and let paint dry completely. Brush on red Perfect Pearl powder all over the image on gel plate and brush off any excess powder. Brayer a thin layer of gold acrylic paint on top, place white card panel over, rub well and pull off print. Die cut using scallop frame and place card panel into 3D embossing folder to emboss rose image. Use sponge dauber to lightly sponge on gold ink on raised areas. Add gold cord, sentiment, leaves before adhering to ivory card base as shown.

Butterfly Birthday: Apply Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink in the center and Wilted Violet at the corners and brayer diagonally to avoid mixing the colors. Add floral stencil on top, place white paper over and rub well to transfer the 1st image. Lift paper, remove stencil and replace paper over to pick up the 2nd image. Use rectangular die to cut our background panel. Add ribbon, die cut butterfly, gems and sentiment before adhering to cream card base as shown.

Leaves & Vines: Brayer Bundled Sage & Twisted Citron Distress Inks onto gel plate and place white paper on top to pick up light green background print. Brayer Mowed Lawn & Peeled Paint onto gel plate, place leaves stencil on top and place light green background print on top. Rub all over to pick up leave images onto print. Die cut panel using scallop rectangular die. Stamp and heat emboss vines using gold embossing powder. Adhere panel onto dark green mat. Add ribbon, gems and sentiment before adhering to green card base as shown.
 
Golden Shoe: Brayer Bright Yellow, Bright Red, Mint Green & Iridescent White onto gel plate. Be careful not to over mix the colors! Add some patterns from cardboard as desired and place paper on top and rub all over to pull print. Die cut background shape and emboss using 3D embossing folder. Add die cut shoe, gems, bakers twine and sentiment before adhering to red card base as shown.

Emboss Dragonfly: Emboss blue background panel with embossing folder and lightly brush Twilight Versa Clair ink over panel. Stamp, heat emboss and die cut dragonfly. Add ribbon, stamp sentiment and gems before adhering onto white card base as shown.

Grateful For You: Stamp leaves bundle with clear VersaMark ink all over mustard card panel. Stamp sentiment on terra cotta card stock and punch out. Add ribbon, gems and die cuts pumpkin, squash & leaves onto card panel before adhering to cream card base.

Iris Folding Sailboat: Follow pattern using the color/pattern papers to complet card as shown.


Birthday Bear: Emboss the front die cut frame with flower embossing folder. Stamp bear with balloons on watercolor paper. Color image with watercolor pencils. Fold and glue card together as shown. Add bow & sentiment to finish card.

Fall 2024 - Gel Printing Workshop - October 9, 2024

Ocean Birthday: Brayer light blue acrylic paint and lift 1st print. Brayer aquamarine acrylic paint and place embossed wave cardboard onto gel plate, and lightly rub all over to transfer pattern onto gel plate. Place 1st print back on gel plate to pick up wave pattern for the 2nd print. Die cut with rectangular stitch die, and stamp turtle, seahorse and corals onto print. Brush Warm Breeze Vera Clair ink around edges, add gems and stamped sentiment before adhering to white card base as shown.

Safari Animals: Brayer orange and yellow acrylic paint and lift 1st print. Brayer opaque gold paint and dab off some paint using crinkle paper to create patterns. Place 1st print back on gel plate to pick up pattern for the 2nd print. Die cut with rectangular stitch die and stamp animals onto print. Add washi tape and stamped sentiment before adhering to black mat and cream card base as shown.

Dragonfly Birthday: Brayer Twisted Citron & Bundled Sage Distress inks onto gel plate. Place script stencil on top, place paper over and rub evenly to transfer image for 1st print. Brayer gel plate again with leftover inks from brayer and replace 1st print back onto gel plate to pick up more background colors. Die cut with rectangular die and adhere onto black mat. Add ribbon, die cut dragonfly, gem, stamp sentiment and adhere to card base as shown.

Autumn Leaves Thanks: Brayer Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade & Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide inks onto gel plate. Repeat with left over inks on brayer to add more colors. Die cut with shape die and deboss with 3D leaves embossing folder. Brayer metallic green acrylic paint onto gel plate, place the debossed leaves panel on top and lightly rub to pick up green paint onto the flat surface areas. Add stamp sentiment and ribbon before adhering to cream card base as shown.

Fall 2024 - Handmade Greeting Card Workshop, October 2, 2024

Alcohol Inks on Vellum: Add pink, purple alcohol inks & blending solution onto felt applicator. Sponge color onto vellum panel. Tape vellum on ivory frame and add gold butterfly, sentiment and corner stickers onto panel before adhering to pink card base as shown.

3D Floral Embossing: Using 3D embossing folder to emboss flowers onto watercolor paper. Color image with Distress Crayons and blend it with baby wipes. Assemble card with stamp sentiment, black mate and green bow before adhering onto green card base.

Birthday by the Sea: Mask off each section of white card panel and sponge blue ink around edges of section. Stamp image in each section with Twilight Versa Clair ink. Add stamp sentiment and black mat before adhering to navy blue card base.

Faux Emboss Vines: Using Stamping platform to stamp vines with white ink onto kraft card panel. Shift the card panel slightly (1/16 inch) and stamp vines again with Pinecone Versa Clair ink on top of previously stamped image to create the faux emboss illusion. Add gems, stamp sentiment and adhere onto white mat panel before adhering to dark brown card base.

Fall 2024 - Gel Printing Workshop - September 25, 2024

Thinking of U Flamingo: Brayer a thin layer of metallic green acrylic paint onto gel plate and lift for background print. Brayer a layer of gold acrylic paint onto gel plate, place swirl leaves stencil on top and place the green background print over to add the swirl leaves pattern onto background print. Die cut print to size. Sponge flamingo body, wing and stamped sentiment with Rose Bud ink and color beak with black Sharpie. Assemble card together as shown.

Butterfly Bithday: Brayer pink ink onto gel plate, place butterflies stencil on top and place paper over to lift background print. Remove stencil and place the background print back on top to lift remainder patterns onto print. Die cut with scallop rectangular frame die. Assemble card with ribbon, sentiment and butterfly die cut as shown.

Safari Animals: Brayer yellow acrylic paint onto gel plate and pull yellow background (1st) print. Brayer orange paint onto gel plate, place a circle mask on top corner for the sun and place yellow background print on top to pull the orange sky (2nd) print. Brayer brown paint with a small amount of black paint at the bottom. Place a torn sheet of scrap paper on the top part of the gel plate, and place the 2nd print back on to pull the mountain and ground (last) print. Die cut to size and stamp animals and birds images. Assemble card with sentiment sticker as shown.

Best Wishes Floral: Brayer purple Distress Oxide ink onto gel plate and pull background print (do not clean brayer). Die cut shape and emboss image with 3D Floral embossing folder. Brayer remaining Distress ink onto gel plate and place the embossed panel back onto gel plate. Lightly rub the raised areas to pick up more colors to add depth to embossed images. Use sponge dauber to rub on colors to edge of raised images. Assemble card with ribbon, sentiment and gems as shown.

Fall 2024 - Handmade Greeting Card Workshop September 18, 2024

Fairy Fun Fold: Stamp fairy and birthday sentiment with black ink on small white card panel. Use sponge dauber to brush on Angel Pink Memento ink in the center and around edges. Color image with glitter gel pens. Stamp flowers with Angel Pink ink on the right edge of the large white card panel for the inside card. Fold card base panel along scored lines. Add gems and bow and assemble card as shown.
Bleached Floral Bouquet: Stamp floral bouquet with clear VersaMark ink onto terra cotta card panel. Add black embossing powder and heat emboss image. Use small paint brush to paint image with household bleach. Add gems and ribbon before adhering to black mat and ivory card base. Add stamp sentiment to finish card as shown.

Pumpkin Iris Folding: Using pattern paper and follow Iris Folding pattern provided to complete this card. Add bow and stamp sentiment with gems to assemble card as shown.

Batty Halloween: Stamp bats with black ink onto white card panel. Place circle stencil over card panel and sponge on yellow, orange, purple and green inks. Die cut panel with rectangular stitch die. Add ribbon, gems and stamp sentiment to assemble card as shown.

Fall 2024 - Gel Printing September 11, 2024

Fall Florals Just For You: Brayer Spiced Marmalade, Antique Linen & Twisted Citron Distress Oxide inks onto gel plate. Place the 3D debossed side of the floral image on top of gel plate, rub lightly to transfer images and remove. Place a white sheet onto gel plate to pick up the image left on the gel plate and die cut shape. Place the die cut shape in the 3D embossing folder to line up with the floral image and run through machine to deboss image. Brayer remaining inks onto gel plate and place die cut panel back onto gel plate to pick up more colors. Repeat a couple more time to add more colors to the panel as desired. Add ribbon and stamp sentiment before adhering it onto burgundy mat and ivory card base as shown.

Jelly Fish BDay: Brayer Peacock Feathers and Peeled Paint Distress Inks onto gel plate, place swirls stencil on top, place white paper over and rub to transfer pattern on to paper. Remove the stencil and place the paper back on to pick up remaining swirls pattern left on gel plate. Die cut frame with scallop rectangular die. Stamp jelly fish with black ink onto background print and color with blue and purple watercolor shimmer paints. Assemble card with stamp sentiment and gems as shown.

Good Day Flowers: Brayer a thin layer of white iridescent acrylic paint onto gel plate. Place drops of pink and purple shimmer watercolor inks onto gel plate and brayer lightly and evenly over gel plate. Place flower stencil on top, place white paper over and rub to transfer pattern on to paper. Remove the stencil and place the paper back on to pick up remaining flower pattern left on gel plate. Die cut frame with rectangular stitch die. Add die cut cup sentiment, gems and assemble card as shown.

BDay Seashells: Place seashell stencil onto gel plate. Brush on copper and gold perfect pearl powders for seashells and dark and light blue powders for bubbles and water. Wipe off any excess powder and remove stencil. Brayer a thin layer of iridescent white acrylic paint on top. Place paper on top and rub well to lift print. Die cut with stitch rectangular die. Add stamp sentiment and assemble card as shown.

Summer 2024 - Handmade Greeting Card Workshop, August 14 & 17, 2024

Below is a recap of the cards we made in our last Handmade Greeting Card class.

Registration for the Fall session will be available starting Monday, August 19, 2024, and the Handmade Greeting Card Workshop will begin on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at the Malaga Cove Campus.

Watercolor 3D-Emboss Peacock: Spray water to saturate the watercolor paper before adding blue and green H2O watercolor to cover paper panel. Add drops of gold watercolor to add accent color panel. Dry off panel before embossing image using 3D Dancing Peacock embossing folder. Add gold corner sticker and sentiment to finish card as shown.

Pastel Dragonflies: Stamp dragonfly images using clear VersaMark ink onto white card panel. Sponge on pink, yellow, green and blue chalks to color stamped images. Brush off powder and emboss panel with diamond embossing folder. Add ribbon and sentiment to finish card as shown.

Faux Embossed Fern Leaf: Stamp leaf with white ink onto green card panel. Move card panel about 1/16" and stamp same image with green ink on top of the previously stamped image to give a faux embossed look. Add gems and green bow to finish card as shown.

Vellum Flowers Birthday (front): Glue embossed floral vellum panel onto front of peach card base. Wrap ribbon around small peach card panel and adhere to vellum card front. Stamp sentiment onto scallop circle and adhere on top of ribbon panel. Add gems and butterfly on top.

Vellum Flowers Birthday (inside): Glue pop-up mechanism inside of the peach card base. Adhere one end of the acetate strips to each end of the pop-up mechanism. Adhere the butterflies onto the other end of the pop-up mechanism. Stamp sentiment onto white card panel and adhere on top of peach card panel before adhering to the top of the pop-up mechanism.

Summer 2024 - Gel Printing Workshop, August 7, 2024

Flowers in Vase: Brayer different color acrylic paints and apply different texture tools to pull various different color prints for the flowers, leaves, vase and background. Use different dies to cut out flowers, leaves, vase and background and assemble together as shown.

Gold Emboss Abstracts: Brayer yellow ink in the center and orange ink on both sides onto gel plate. Place rose stencil onto plate and place paper on top to lift rose pattern. Remove the stencil, flip the paper around to add the remaining pattern onto the paper. Die cut frame, stamp and heat emboss image with gold embossing powder.

Perfect Pearl Jelly Fish: Spray Green and Blue Distress Mica Stains onto gel plate. Place mixed media paper onto plate to pick up background. Dry well before stamping jelly fish image with VersaMark ink.

Rose Bouquets in Pastel: Stamp rose bouquet onto gel plate with StazOn Timber Brown ink. When ink dried, brayer some light yellow, pink, green and iridescent white acrylic paint over stamped images. Place paper on top and rub well to pull print. Die cut frame, add ribbon and stamp sentiment before assembling card as shown.

Summer 2024 - Handmade Greeting Card Workshop July 31, 2024

Hello everyone,

Hope you are keeping cool. Below is a recap of the cards we made in previous class. Next Wednesday, August 14th (or Saturday, August 17th) will be our last class meeting for the Summer session.

3D Emboss Daisy w/ Alcohol Inks: Add a couple drop of yellow and green alcohol inks and some blending solution onto a felt applicator. Apply ink onto Yupo paper by using slight twisting motion. Be careful not to over blending and mixing the colors together. Apply Alcohol Lift ink onto the 3D Embossing Folder, place the alcohol inked panel in the embossing folder to emboss the image. Use some paper towel to immediately wipe off all the Lift ink from the Yupo paper to reveal the embossed image. Assemble card by adding ribbon, stamped sentiment and gems as shown.

Faux Watercolor Roses: Apply Abandoned Coral, Fired Brick, Twisted Citron and Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide inks onto rose stamp using sponge daubers. Lightly spritz water onto stamp and stamp images onto watercolor paper twice as shown. Use water brush to lightly brush over and around stamped images to create the watercolor wash as shown. Add corner and sentiment stickers before adhering to rose card base.

Embossed BDay Bike: Stamp and heat emboss bicycle using white embossing powder. Sponge Rose Bud, Lilac Posies and Grape Jelly Memento inks onto embossed card panel. Add gems and sentiment sticker and adhere panel onto purple mat before adhering onto white card base.

Stencil Butterfly:  Place swirls stencil onto white card panel and lightly sponge Warm Breeze Versafine Clair ink over top. Remove stencil and stamp butterfly image using black ink. Adhere panel onto black mat. Add stamp sentiment, gems and bow to finish card as shown.
