Winter 2025 - Handmade Greeting Cards Workshop - April 2, 2025

Well, Winter 2025 session is completed. For your information, the Spring 2025 schedule is now posted online under School - Adult Education at www.pvpusd.net. Below is a quick recap of the cards we made in class.

Mica Stain Butterfly: Sponge and stamp scripts & ivy leaves using Speckles Egg Distress Oxide ink onto white card panel for background image. Spray Mica Stain colors onto butterfly die cut. Adhere butterfly on white card panel. Add pearls and sentiment sticker before adhering to aqua card base.

Alcohol Lift Florals: Sponge Pink, Blue & Yellow alcohol inks onto Yupo paper. Ink florals stamp with Alcohol Lift ink and stamp onto inked Yupo paper. Lift stamp and place paper towel on top image to absorb any wet alcohol inks before gently wiping off to reveal the floral image. Adhere panel behind white die cut frame and adhere to metallic green card base. Add pearls and stamp sentiment to finish.

Distress Oxide Poppies: Place circle mask onto white card panel and sponge Antique Linen, Dried Marigolds & Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide inks on white panel. Stamp poppies with black ink and color with markers. Adhere onto black mat before adhering to yellow card base. Add sentiment sticker to finish card.

Sunflowers on Embossed Background: Emboss yellow card panel using embossing folder. Sponge die cut flowers and leaves. Add orange washi paper on diagonal cut edge. Stamp and punch out sentiment using Acorn Versafine Clair ink on yellow card panel. Add orange gingham bow and finish card as shown.

Winter 2025 - Gel Monoprinting Workshop - March 26, 2025

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all doing well.  Our last Gel Printing class has come and gone. How time flies! 

Below is quick recap of the cards we made in class.

Gelato Background: Spritz some water all over gel plate. Scribble pastel green, pink, blue & purple gelatos on gel plate and place stencil over gel plate. Place a watercolor card panel on top and rub well to pick up print. Lift panel, remove stencil and place a 2nd panel onto gel plate to pick up remaining color print. Stamp image with black ink and die cut with rectangular frame die. Adhere onto black mat and white card base. Add sentiment to finish card as shown.

Distress Oxide Emboss Butterflies: Brayer Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean & Wilted Violet Distress Oxide inks onto gel plate. Place flowers stencil on top, place white paper over top and rub well to pick all the flowers pattern. Lift print and remove stencil. Brayer evenly over the gel plate with the remaining inks on the brayer and gel plate to smooth out the inks. Replace original print back on to pick up additional colors for the background. Die cut with rectangular stitch frame and emboss with butterflies embossing folder. Add stamp sentiment, ribbon and gems before adhering to shimmer beige card base.

Alcohol Inks Mermaid: Brayer a thin layer of white iridescent acrylic paint onto gel plate. Add a few drops of rubbing alcohol onto gel plate before adding various color alcohol inks on top. Use blower to spread inks around to cover gel plate. Place stencil follow by white paper on top to pick up pattern. Remove stencil and replace paper over top and rub well to pick up remaining inks onto paper. Die cut shape and emboss with wave embossing folder. Adhere panel to card base, add die cut mermaid, gems and sentiment to finish card.

Acrylic Paint Zebra: Brayer yellow and copper acrylic paints onto gel plate. Place paper to lift 1st background print. Brayer some raw umber acrylic paint on the bottom of gel plate and place 1st background print to lift up the additional color. Die cut frame and stamp images with black StazOn ink. Adhere panel onto black mat before placing onto white card base.
