May 13, 2013 Card Making Class

Hello ladies,

Wow time flies and our last class for the Spring session has come and gone.  Sorry we missed you in class Carol!  Here's a recap of the cards we made.
This puppy card is made using a technique called Fancy Folding with die cuts.  It's similar to Iris Folding using a pattern but without the counting.. It's much simpler and everyone in class gets to choose the color and pattern papers they want.  It is always a nice surprise when everyone turns the card over when finished.  The corners were made by using an EK Success photo corner punch on all 4 corners of a black panel to slip in the white panel for matting before adhering to the white card base.  Add sentiment and bow to finish.
This lounge chair card was made by stamping the image with black Memories ink onto white card panel.  A mask image was made by stamping the same image on a post-it note.  The umbrella top was then cut out to use as a mask before sponging on the Tim Holtz spice marmalade and peeled paint distress ink for the background.  Peel off the mask and color the umbrella top with Marvy markers.  Punch out the image using a large circle punch.  Adhere to the black scallop circle.  Adhere the grass paper onto the bottom half of a beige card base.  Adhere the image panel onto card base as shown with foam tape.  I left the sentiment off as I haven't decide what to put on quite yet, but I think it would make a good Father's Day card.
This blue flower card was made by punching 3 flowers out of blue card stock using Martha Stewart cornflower punch (I think).  I cut a slit in between each petal to give the full daisy look and sponge edges with blue ink.  Glue all 3 flowers on top of each other.  Punch out 3 set of leaves out of green card stock and set aside.  Adhere the blue card panel onto white card base, and adhere the blue pattern paper onto blue card panel.  Adhere olive green sheer ribbon with glue dot as shown and adhere flower with glue dot.  Tuck in the leaves and adhere large pearl in the flower center.  Stamp sentiment on white card stock and punch out.  Adhere onto card with foam tape to finish.
This last card is made by first die cut the tree in the center of a white card panel.  Center the panel on to green card panel and trace the out line of the tree using a pencil.  Remove the white card panel.  Using 2 different width of double-sided tapes, place them onto green card panel at a diagonal starting with the narrower tape and then with the wider tape right next to the narrow tape in an alternate fashion as shown.  Peel off the backing papers of the narrow tapes first and sprinkle some dark green flock on.  Rub the flock onto the narrow tape to get an even coat and dust the excess off.  Now peel off the backing paper off the wide tapes, sprinkle the light green flock and rub in for an even coverage.  Return any excess flock back into its container.  Sponge blue and green ink onto white card die cut panel as shown.  Punch corners of white card panel and green card panel before adhering them together.  Wrap brown ribbon onto the bottom portion of card panel and adhere onto beige card base.  Stamp sentiment and punch out using Fiskar scallop circle punch.  Adhere with foam tape to finish.
