Well our last class of the Winter Session has come and gone, but not everyone was able to finish their cards. So, I'm planning an hour make-up class this coming Monday 3/28/11 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. if anyone wishes to show up. Please email me to let me know.
Anyway, here are the cards we made in class. This first card method is called Quilling not to be confused with Quilting. It's made by rolling thin strips of paper into loose rolls with a quilling tool (slotted tool), glued the strip end after letting the rolls loosen off the tool. The rolls were then pinch them into different shapes (rectangles for the candles and tear drops for the flames). The rig rags were wrapped around the white embossed card stock for the cake and popped-up with foam tape to be the same level as the candles. Add sentiment tag and brads.
This faux stain glass card was made using the peel off stickers on acetate. The color was added on the back side using Sharpies (yellow, orange, green, blue, purple and burgundy). The darkest color was a mixture of purple and burgundy. You will need to put a second or third coats on to get the more vibrant colors. Allow the color to dry in between each coat. The acetate was then tape only at 4 corners and centered behind the yellow die cut card. A white card stock was then adhered behind the acetate to cover up for a clean look inside the card.
The hydrangea card was made using the Sizzix die cut for the flower base, leaves and branch. The small flowers on top were made using the Martha Stewart's punch. The flower edges were sponged with pink ink and dry embossed to give some dimensions. The centers of the flowers were added using silver sparkle gel pen. The leaves were also sponged with light green ink, embossed and popped-up in the center with foam tape.
The last card was made by punching butterflies in different colors as shown. The butterflies' wings were curved with bone folder or dull end of the scissors. Add pearls to the body and tape with glue dots in the center of the white squares. The white square were staggered on top of the matching color square of the butterfly.
That's it. Have a great Spring break! Hope to see you all again at the Spring Session starting April 18, 2011.
