November 26, 2012 Card Making Class

Hello again,

I finally got around to photograph the cards we made from our last class and here they are.
This first card was made by cutting a 3"- 4" circle in half.  Accordion fold each half circle to make trees.  Freehand cut tree trunks out of brown card stock.  The white background card stock was embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder.  Glue trees as shown.  Punch out label using Stampin' Up designer label punch twice, one of each out of white and red card stocks.  Cut the red card label in half length wise and glue to back of the white label.  Add gold sticker sentiment and tape to the front with foam tape.  Add gold stars to tree tops and gold border trims on each side of card as shown.
This next card was made by cutting a 12 x 5-1/2" lavender card stock and scored at 4" and 8".  Fold the first 2 panels together and cut out the opening using the Spellbinder Blossom die.  Open up the 2 panels that had the cut outs, glue thin strips of lavender card stock as shown on the inside center panel.  Once complete, glue or tape the 2 panels with the cut outs together to hide the glue area.  Add a small blossom die cut to the center of the cut out, decorate with flowers, leaves and pearls.  Punch out a designer label using white card stock.  Shade the edges with purple ink as shown.  Add silver sticker sentiment to finish the card.
This Tiger lilies card was made using a McGill lily punch with orange and green card stock.  Color the center with orange marker and add brown dots as shown.  Punch stamens out of lime green and color the outside with brown marker.  Use a large ball tool to emboss/shape each petal and set aside.  Punch the brown and orange card stocks using Fiskar border punch.  Tie olive green ribbon and adhere the panels onto white card base as shown.  Add sticker sentiment at the bottom.
This next card has two parts..  The front card was made by punching the gift border with Martha Stewart border punch out of pattern paper and glue to the bottom.  Add Snoopy sticker on white round scallop, add silver sentiment sticker on white oval scallop and finish off with 3 dots using a regular hole punch.
The inside pop-up was made by folding the white card in half, place marks at 1", 1-1/2", 2-1/2", 3", 4" & 4-1/2".  Cut at each of these marks about 1" deep.  Fold card by pushing out the 1/2" cut strips for the pop-ups.  Stamp balloons on top of white card as shown and color with markers or color pencils.  I did the paper piecing method which took more time.  Adhere Charlie Brown and gangs on red card stock and cut out to give them some support before gluing them onto the pop-up strips as shown.  Punch out a blue gift border using the same Martha Stewart punch and adhere to the bottom of the white card.  Fold the white card inside and glue to the blue front together.
That's it for now.  I know a few ladies did not finish all the cards.  So I be there about 10 min. early for anyone who wants to catch up.  We also agree on a little potluck party where everyone will bring a little something to share.  Since this is the last class before the winter break, we will make only 3 cards.  So everyone can finish and still have time to enjoy the goodies that everyone will bring.  See you on Monday Dec.10.  Have a great weekend!
