February 6, 2012 Card Making Class

Hello again,

Wow, I'm actually not late this time.  Mainly because I wanted to take a picture of all the cards I made before I sell them off for the Valentine order and for the Lemon & Sugar gifts shop.  Hence, I took pictures of the cards we made in class at the same time while I have everything set up for the camera.

This roses card was made using cocktail napkins and Mod Podge.  The napkin needs to be separated so the white layers are removed and only the top layer with the design is used to decoupage (glue) on card stock and vellum.   After applying the Mod Podge on white card stock and vellum pieces, they are left to dry for a few minutes.  While waiting, the green swirls pattern paper was trimmed with decorative scissors and glue onto the left side of the card front.  Once the Mod Podge pieces were dried, the white card stock was ironed onto the back of larger square image background.  The smaller image of just the roses/buds were ironed onto the vellum piece.  Make sure the glue side is on the wrong (back) side of the napkins.  After cutting out the center portions of the roses from the vellum piece, leaving out some of the outside petals, the piece was dry embossed on the back using embossing tool to give some dimensions.  The vellum piece is popped-up with foam tape and placed on top of the background piece.  Mat the image with dark green card stock and place onto card front as shown.  Finish off with sheer ribbon tied into a simple knot.
This ballerina card was made using the Starform bustier sticker placed on bright pink pattern paper and trim around the outline.  The skirt was made with a pink silk flower folded in half and using glue dots to tape the halves together and to glue to the bustier.  The entire dress was taped down onto scallop oval die cut with foam tape.  The whole thing was taped onto pink and red pattern paper on top of pink poka dots card front.
The Anniversary card below was made with die cut hearts in silver and ivory glitter card stocks.  They were taped together with a pearl accent and adhered with foam tape onto card frame and silver card stock.  The sheer white ribbon was wrapped around the bottom and tied with a simple knot.  The sentiment was added to the punched shape and taped down with double layers of foam tape placed on top and bottom of the ribbon knot.  Everything was then taped onto white card front.
The hedgehog card was made by stamping the image with Staz-On black permanent ink onto watercolor paper.  The image was then colored with watercolor pencil and blended with a water brush.  The panel was taped onto black card stock.  The black and white stripe ribbon was taped onto the numbers card front and the image was taped on top with foam tape.  The 'Just a Note' sentiment was stamped with black ink onto white card stock and punched out with scallop circle punch.  It's then adhered onto the bottom right corner with foam tape.
Well that's it for now.  No class on February 20 since it is Presidents' Day.  Until next month!  For those of you who are not in the class, please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
