March 19, 2012 - Last Winter 2012 Greeting Card Making Class

Hello ladies,

Can't believe another session is already over!  The new Spring Session catalog should have been mailed out or posted online.   It's a short session, only 3 class meetings due to Memorial Day, starting Monday April 16, follows by April 30 and May 14.  So if you haven't signed up yet, you still have plenty of time.  Although it's always helpful to know ahead of time how many students I need to prepare the materials for.

Anyway, here are the cards from our last class.  This blue & white birthday card was made using the blue & white rose sticker placed on a scallop die cuts from Spellbinder.   The blue & white floral pattern paper was glued to the front of a blue card base.   The white scallop was then adhered on top with foam tape.  A strip of lace was taped on to the bottom front.  The silver sticker sentiment was added onto a white banner strip and popped up with foam tape only in the middle to give the curve illusion.  Finished with some blings on each end.
This next card is a frame card using a 4"x 4" double-sided card stock folding toward the center on all 4 corners and folding them back.  Add sentiment sticker in the center, tape down each side and finish with butterfly gems as shown.  Adhere a border punched strip with sheer white knotted ribbon to the top of a white card base before adhering the frame on top to finish the card.
This peach rose card was made by adhering a gold peel-off rose sticker onto ivory card stock and painted with Twinkling H2O watercolors.  A die cut light orange frame, using Spellbinder die, was adhered on top with foam tape to frame the rose before taping onto an ivory card base.  Gold sticker sentiment and a large bow were added to finish the card.
This pop-up candle card was made using the Sizzix candles die cuts out of striped card stock.  The single large candle was adhered with foam tape on to the front of the card after tying a strip of ribbon toward the lower part of the candle.  Silver sticker sentiment was also added.
Below is the inside of the candle card.  The  inside card was made with a 4" x 8" piece of blue card stock, folded in half.  The pop-up portion was made by cutting 1/2" wide x 1" long strip in the center and two 1/4" wide x 1/2" long on each side of the center strip about 1/2" apart.  Fold the inside card by pushing the cut strips forward to create the pop-ups.  A large candle was taped to the center strip and the smaller candles were adhered to the shorter strips.  Confetti stickers were added throughout for the festive look.  Put the interior card (with the candles folded down) inside the exterior card by taping one side at a time to assemble the card together.
I realize it sounds more difficult to follow my descriptions than to actually see it made.  I guess that's why you take the class! ;o)  Anyway, enjoy the rest of the week and have a great weekend.  Sorry we didn't have a chance to make an Easter card.  Happy Easter everyone!
