November 24, 2014 Card Making Class

Hello ladies,

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving enjoying your time with family and friends.  We had a nice time with our son home for the weekend.  He was homesick and hungry for Asian cuisine.  We loaded him up with some supplies to take back for 2 more weeks of school and finals before the Winter break.

Any how, below are the cards we made at our last class.  This washi quilting card was made by cutting the hearts using the Sizzix heart die out of cardboard and thin packing foam (3 each).  Glue the foam and the cardboard heart together to give the dimension.  Rough cut the washi paper about 1/4" larger than the heart. Glue the heart to the back side of the washi paper, lining up the edge to the bottom point of the heart.  Cut slits around the curves to allow the ease in folding up the edges and glue in place to create each quilted heart. Adhere the hearts and pre-cut flowers to card panel as shown.  Add sticker sentiment and bling to finish.

This next serviette (napkin) card was made by painting the mod podge onto a white card panel to fit the background image of a paper napkin. Paint mod podge onto a smaller piece of clear vellum (the size of the sail boat) for the 3D effect. Allow a couple minutes for the card panel and vellum to dry.  Peel off the white backing(s) of the paper napkin leaving only the top layer with the image.  On top on an ironing board, iron the napkin lightly to remove wrinkles and place the glue side down toward the back side of the image.  Cover with a sheet of scratch paper to protect the glue from getting on the iron.  Iron lightly to adhere the layers.  Using the white card panel as a guide, cut out the background piece.  Repeat the ironing with the vellum positioning over the sail boat image.  Cut out only the sails and the boat.  Using an embossing tool over some foam, emboss the vellum back side to give the curve look.  Adhere with foam tape over the image.  Adhere the completed panel over dark green card panel before adhering everything over a beige card base.
This next card was made by stamping the images with clear VersaMark ink over glossy white card stock.  Using a roller apply the multi-color Spectrum ink over the stamped glossy panel.  Keep rolling in one direction starting off one end of the page to off the other end of the page to create a smooth ink blend.   Keep rolling until the desired color intensity.  Set aside.  Stamp the swirls onto the aqua green card base with VersaMark ink.  Apply blue Perfect Pearl powder on top stamp images with a paint brush.  Brush off excess.  Adhere the glossy panel onto card base to finish.

This last card was made by cutting half circles out of double sided card stock (thinner pattern paper would have been easier to fold). It's difficult to explain on the folds.  So I will prepare a sketch for this later.  Email me if anyone is interested in getting the sketch.  Adhere the folded trees onto card base as shown.  Add stars, sentiment and snowflakes stickers to finish.
That's it for now.  This Monday 12/8 will be our last class for the Fall Session.   The Winter session will begin in February.  It's a short session with only 3 class meetings (2/2, 3/2 & 3/16) due to the holidays.  Have a great weekend and see you on Monday!

November 10, 2014 Card Making Class

Hello everyone,

Just a quick post for the cards that we made in our last class meeting. This first card is made by simply taping the snowflakes ribbon on top of card and glue die cut sentiment and star onto the card as shown.

This next card is made by punching out 10-11 snowflakes using Martha Stewart punch.  Using a pencil, draw a circle lightly onto light blue card base to use as a guide to glue the snowflakes around for the wreath.  Add clear bling in the center of each snowflake.  Add a bow and sentiment to finish.

The next card was made by punching out stars border using EK Success punch on both sides of white card panel as shown.  Adhere to blue panel and wrap blue sheer ribbon as shown.  Adhere the assembled panel onto black card base.  Stamp sentiment and punch out label before adhering with foam on the front center to finish.
This last card was made by gluing the pattern pieces onto pink panels.  Adhere the stripe panel on the bottom of white card base.  Adhere ribbon on the edge of stripe panel and glue the pattern panels as shown.  Add three green flowers and clear bling in the center.  Finish with sticker sentiment.
That's it for now.  See you all this coming Monday before Thanksgiving.  Can't believe it's Thanksgiving already!  Before you know it'll be Christmas and another year goes by!

October 27, 2014 Card Making Class

Happy Hump Day,

Hope your week is going well so far.  Sorry for the late post.  I took the pictures last week, but didn't get a chance to type up the blog.  So here it goes.

This first card was made by adhering purple floral paper over white card base and set aside.  Then color the lilac rubber stamp with purple and olive green Marvy markers.  Spritz some water lightly over the colored stamp image and stamp onto watercolor paper.  Stamp a couple more times on both sides as shown without re-inking.  Let dry and adhere over black card panel.  Tie a purple sheer ribbon around and adhere onto card base.  Stamp sentiment onto white card stock and punch out using designer label punch.  Punch another label using black card stock and cut in half lengthwise, trim the ends and adhere behind the sentiment label. Adhere with foam tape on the top corner to finish.
This pink floral card was made by stamping the flowers with pink ink all over the white card panel and tape over black card panel.  Tie sheer pink ribbon around before adhering onto pink card base.  Punch out three pink flowers, add pearls in the center, sponge petals with pink ink and glue to the top right corner of card base.  Stamp sentiment onto white circle and adhere to the black scallop circle.  Adhere with foam tape onto the bottom right corner as shown.
This Iris Folding card was made by first cutting out the round ornament using the Sizzix framelit die.  The ornament cut-out will be used in the next card. Using three different pattern papers and following the iris pattern to complete the design from the back of the card panel.  When finished, turn it right side up and tape over red card base using double-sided tape.  Add red bow and sentiment to finish.
The last card was made using the cut-out from the previous card and taping pattern gift wrapping ribbons to layer on top of the ornament as shown.  Adhere onto green card and add snow flake, holly and sentiment stickers as shown.  Add bling to finish.
Well that's it for now.  See you all next Monday!  Have a great week.

Hello everyone,

Sorry for not posting until now.  I have been quite busy the last couple of months.  I am posting both card classes below.

From the April 14 card class, this pineapple iris folding card was made by using the Sizzix pineapple die to cut out shape on white glossy card panel and emboss panel with flower emboss folder.  The top green leaves of the pineapple was made by using light and dark green papers in alternate orders. the bottom of the pineapple was also made by alternating the light and dark yellow pattern papers in oval iris pattern.  Adhere the finished iris panel onto olive green card panel before taping it onto white card base.  Finished off with an orange bow.

This easel card was made by using  a 4-1/4" x 11" white card panel and scoring at 1-1/2", 3-1/2"and 5-1/2" for the folds. Adhere the suede pattern paper onto black card panel and adhere to the large back panel. Add a black brad to the silver flower before adhering it to the corner of the back panel.
Assemble the smaller suede pattern paper and black panel the same and adhere to the middle folder panel as shown.  Add a silver brad onto the small black flower and the white glitter flower before adhering it onto the black scallop circle as shown.  Tape the assembled flower onto the middle panel with some sticky tape.  Assemble the smallest suede pattern paper and black panel for the front card panel.  Wrap gray and silver ribbon around the panel before adhering it to the front card panel.  Finish it off with a black glitter flower with silver brad in the front.
Since the card would not stay upright, I added a folded white card panel to the back, but some ladies in class think it would look better by taping the front 2 panels to the back panel.  So as long as everyone is happy, who am I to say otherwise?  :o)
Well that's it for now.  See you at the next class meeting!
